An Eye Opening Rebuttal to The Berean Call’s Critique of Left Behind or Led Astray

On August 29, 2015 Dr. Paul Wilkinson spoke at The Berean Call Conference. He used much of his time in an attempt to discredit our new DVD, “Left Behind or Led Astray?: Examining the Origins of the Secret Pre-Tribulation Rapture.” During the Q & A session T.A. McMahon joined in on the discussion and had some additional remarks concerning our DVD.

This roundtable discussion featuring Joe Schimmel, Jacob Prasch and John Haller is our official response to Dr. Paul Wilkinson and T.A. McMahon of The Berean Call. Both Wilkinson and T.A. McMahon made some very concerning comments to which we felt it necessary to officially respond.

Blessings to you. I haven’t seen your product yet, but understand your position, as it varies with my own. I do want to understand how you arrived, through Scripture, with your stance. I have sat before most of the men mentioned in the round table with Jacob, and I am quite familiar with JP from prior conferences.
I do respect your heart in this matter, and look to study it further with you.
The round table discussion is something I want to play multiple times, as this topic has much to digest. Thank you for challenging the body to look into this subject from a thorough, biblical standpoint. Maranatha Lord Jesus!

    Good bye
Concerning the battle by those who earnestly contend for the faith: You seem to be on a mission to go in after battle and bayonet the survivors. Soooooo close to a Scoffer in the end times.

    • Your contention seems to be that only pre-tribs earnestly contend for the faith. It is the enemy who seeks to kill, steal and destroy, not those who disagree with the pre-trib rapture doctrine. We believe in the promise of His coming (re: your scoffer comment), we simply believe it is when the bible says it is, not in an any-moment rapture before the tribulation. This does not make us enemies in a battle as you suggest.

    English Standard Version

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,”

    Hyper-Calvinism?

What does he mean by this? And citing Titus 2:11 as a “polemic” against it (?) is a distraction from the topic at hand. If he is implying that God does NOT have an eternally determined “elect unto salvation” then let it be readily understood that the “universalists” have as much ground to claim the verse for the abolute universal salvation of of EVERY human being as he does for suggesting that (hyper-?) “Calvinism” is flatly contradicted by this verse. And he should know better than this “shot-gun” by a single verse approach to exegesis. He seems to be made a little careless in his speech by his pique over the Berean Call conference folly. A teachable moment, if you will, for the rest of us.

My only comment for the producers of the Left Behind or Led Astray DVD is this: Is Jesus Christ truly the Lord, the Savior and the Master over your life? If he is then our behavior has to reflect that to the glory of God in totality pure and simple. No man knows what only Father God knows as far as what time the return of the Lord will be, with that said perhaps we should be a little more concerned about adhering to the calling he instructed us to follow.

    • Hello Nick. Thank you for your comments. Your closing statement assumes that we are not concerned about adhering to the calling He instructed us to follow. Nothing could be further from the truth. You seem to be putting forth what is known as a False Dilemma, also known as an “either/or fallacy”. It seems that pre-tribs are able to teach the doctrine of an “any moment rapture before the 7 year tribulation” WHILE AT THE SAME TIME adhering to the calling He instructed us to follow. Are post-tribs not also able to do this as well?

You start by asking if Jesus Christ is truly the Lord, the Savior and the Master over our lives, and if He is, then our behavior has to reflect that to the glory of God in totality… Amen! We would agree with this. However, our question to you would be, why put these questions forward to us? To be honest, It seems that you are insinuating something without actually coming out and saying it.

You are correct, no man knows the day nor the hour of Christ’s return, but scripture (and Jesus Himself) does teach us to be aware of the signs that Jesus’ return is near, even at the door. We are not in darkness that this day should overtake us as a thief (1 Thessalonians 5:4).

    • Jesus gave us His word to give us understanding, to be a lamp unto our feet. his word is clear when you study it that He comes at the seventh trump. We don’t know the hour because He cuts the days short for the sake of the elect, but we can know the season.

  5. The pre-trib. folks say that Jesus will come as a thief and steal His bride away before the great tribulation and take her to heaven for the wedding feast. TBC’S boast is “Sola scriptura.” I have noticed in Tom’s and Dave’s writings on this subject that they never direct us to a scripture verse to validate their belief. Apparently they have never read Rev. 16 when the angels pour out the bowls filled with the last plagues upon the earth. The second verse says that when the first bowl was poured out a great sore came upon those who had received the mark of the beast. After the sixth angel pours out his bowl, Jesus says, “Behold I come as a thief—–.”

    • Amen bro! Praise the Lord that you are rightly dividing the word of truth, something that many pre-tribs boast of doing while failing to recognize their own inconsistent hermeneutics when dealing with the timing of the rapture.

  6. Love what your doing…
Just hate to see the in fighting. Time could be better spent teaching truth. But this is the world we live in. Wish we could keep it among ourselves instead of the dirty laundry being aired in public. Why wont they just come to the table? What are they hiding?

They aint hidin nothin from us. Their skirts are over their faces for all to see. Im calling them out everywhere I go. Popular as a hair in a biscuit… Time to quit playing church….
